11/30/12 - Ch Amber Hill Ocean's Pearl goes Best in Specialty Show by winning BOB at the Colonial Shetland Sheepdog Club Winter Specialty under Judge Joy Brewster. This was her third 3 point major towards her Grand Championship. The BOB competition included two Grand Champions and three Champions.

Also congratulations to Ann for handling two winners at the specialty!!! She also assisted the Mancini's in showing 'Rock Island Good Vibrations' who took winners dog.

11/25/12 - Ch Amber Hill Ocean's Pearl wins a 3 point Major Select from Judge Robert Stein on her third day showing in the Thanksgiving cluster.

11/24/12 - Ch Amber Hill Ocean's Pearl wins a 3 point Major Select in her first  show as a special under Judge Norman Kenney. We moved her up after finishing her championship the day before. Pearl was awarded select bitch in a tough field that had other champion/GCh bitches competing.

11/23/12 - Amber Hill Ocean's Pearl wins WB/BOW at the Windham County  Kennel Club under Judge Larry Adams for a 3 point Major to finish her AKC Championship.   Pearl was owner handled for all of her points and finished her title in one year. Her list accomplishments to date are outstanding. Pearl began her show career last November winning Best in Specialty Match (Don Mancini). At her first show she took BOB over specials. Pearl continued on to win a Specialty Major BOW (Joe Molloy), Specialty Major Reserve (Mark Houston McMillan), 5 BOB's from the classes, 5 Variety Group Placements (BBE & Puppy), and many other notable wins over some great competition. Numerous Judges have complemented Pearl on her outstanding head, great movement and nice topline. We feel very blessed to have bred such a quality bitch from our own dogs.

09/28/12 - Amber Hill Riptide (Forrest) was the WD at the Finger Lakes Kennel Club under Judge Thomas Nesbitt for a 3 point Major win to finish his AKC Championship.  This was a great accomplishment for us in many ways. Forrest is the first show dog that we bred, he is also the first dog we pointed and now the first dog we have finished an AKC Championship with.  Both of Forrest majors were owner handled making his AKC title even more special for us. 

8/25/12 - Pearl wins WB, BOW and BOB at the Newtown Kennel Club show in West Springfield MA under Judge Lawrence E. Stanbridge from Ontario. This was a 2 point win against tough competition bringing her point total to 12. Pearl has won BOB in the last 3 shows she has entered for a total of 5 'Best of Breed' wins from the classes, some over specials.

8/19/12 - Pearl repeats on the 2nd day of the Fitchburg MA shows with another BOB from the Bred By Exhibiter class under Judge Terry Depetro.

8/18/12 - Pearl wins WB, BOW and BOB under Sheltie Breeder Judge Linda C. More at the Wachusett Kennel Club show in Fitchburg MA. She was shown in the Bred By Exhibiter class.

7/07/12 - Pearl gets Reserve and BBE at West Springfield. She goes on the win a BBE Group4.

07/01/12 *** Amber Hill Riptide wins Major ***

Amber Hill Riptide (Forrest) was the WD at the Wampanoag Kennel Club under Judge Dr. Thomas Davies for a 3 point Major win. Forrest showed great and moved really well. He was owner handled for the win out of the Open Sable Class.

06/16/12 *** Amber Hill Oceans Pearl wins Specialty Major ***

Pearl was the WB and BOW at the Granite State Shetland Sheepdog Club under Breeder Judge Joe Molloy. This is our kennels first major and we are thrilled to have it happen at a specialty show under a respected judge with many great dogs and top handlers competing. Its even more satisfying because she is bred from our own dogs and was owner handled in the Bred By Class. We are having a lot of fun with this special bitch and she enjoys showing as much as we do.

06/01/12 - Pearl gets a Specialty Major Reserve at the Colonial Shetland Sheepdog Club Show under Breeder Judge Mark Houston-McMillan (24 bitch entry).  The large number of  quality entries and recognition from a well known Breeder Judge made this a memorable show for us.

05/18/12 - Pearl repeats on the second day in Maine with another Major Reserve  (21 bitch entry).  She Also went on to win Best Bred By Exhibitor and a BBE Group 2.

05/17/12 - Pearl gets a Major Reserve (16 bitch entry) at the Vacationland Dog Club Show in Maine. She was handled by Roy.

04/14/12 - Pearl returned to the ring after taking some time off due to blowing out her puppy coat. She won WB and BOS for another point at the Rhode Island Kennel Club Show. Piper was the Reserve Bitch. Both were Handled by Ann.

04/07/12 - Piper wins Open Sable and Star wins Bred By at Tri-State Specialty afternoon show under Breeder Judge Victoria Piccarillo.

03/11/12 - Piper gets Reserve again on the 2nd day of the show in Milton NY, Handled by Roy

03/10/12 - Piper gets Reserve in Milton NY, Handled by Roy

01/15/12 - At the Greater Lowell Kennel Club in Fitchburg, Pearl was awarded Best Bred By Exhibitor and won a BBE Group4

2011

2011 Retrospective

This was a good year for Amber Hill Shelties. We won numerous BOB's  and put points on all our dogs. Four times we had both the Winners Bitch and the Reserve Bitch at the same show. Three of our girls got BOB awards over specials. This year marked our first group placements. All our wins this year were owner handled. The dogs and us are looking forward to next year and hope to keep up the momentum. 

12/11/11 - At the Eastern Dog Club Show, under David Kirkland, "Chowder" Jade Mist Amber Hill  Seabreeze wins WB, BOS-1 point. "Forrest" Amber Hill Riptide gets a major reserve and their daughter "Pearl" wins BOB puppy. Not a bad day for the whole family.

12/10/11 - At the Eastern Dog Club Show, under  Ms. Marie Ann Falconer, Pearl wins WB, BOS, BOB Puppy and a Puppy Group 4.

12/9/11 - At the Ladies Dog Club Show, Providence, RI, Pearl gets WB, BOW, BBE, her second BOB and a BBE Group 2 under Rick Gschwender.

12/4/11 - At the Fitchburg show Pearl gets Reserve and Best Bred By Exhibitor under Breeder Judge, Barbara Kenealy.

11/13/11 -  We returned to Fitchburg to show again on Sunday with Jade Mist Amber Hill Seabreeze (Chowder) and Jade Mist Amber Hill Sandpiper (Piper). Chowder won 2 more points by going Best of Breed over 2 specials and was handled by Ann. This was her first BOB. Piper won the Reserve and was handled by Roy.

11/11/11 - 'Amber Hill Oceans Pearl' goes to her first show at 10 months of age and wins BOB. Pearl was shown by Ann in the Bred by class at the Souhegan Kennel Club show in Fitchburg. She won Bred By Exhibitor, WB, Best Bred By Exhibitor and BOB. She picked up an extra point (2 total) by going Best of Breed over 2 specials. This is our biggest win to date with a puppy and the BOB was more than we had hoped for with this young girl. Her mother Chowder won Reserve.   

11/06/11 - Pearl (10 months old) had another big day her second time out, at the Colonial Shetland Sheepdog Clubs annual AKC-sanctioned specialty breed match. Pearl won Runner Up in Sweepstakes  in the morning show and Best in Match Puppy in the afternoon show. Star and Piper were  shown in the adult match. Star shined at the show and won the Best of Match Adult. Both Pearl and Star were handled by Ann. We are very excited about both of these young Chowder daughters and hope to have a lot of success on the show circuit with them. Judges were Shetland Sheepdog breeders Sue Mancini (Sweeps) and Don Mancini (Breed).

 10/15/11 - Jade Mist Amber Hill Seabreeze (Chowder) was awarded 2nd in a tough Open Sable class of 12 bitches shown by professional handlers at the Shetland Sheepdog Club of No. New Jersey Specialty. Chowder was handled by Roy.

10/09/11 - We took Pearl, our 9 month old puppy to the St. Hubert Kennel Club Match in North Stonington CT. It was her 1st time in the ring. She behaved well and looked great. Pearl won 1st and BOB Puppy and a Group 2.

8/27/11 - Amber Hill Riptide won WD and 2 points in field of 8 at the Newtown Kennel Club show in Springfield MA. The win was a little bittersweet because he just missed a cross over major by not going BOW.

7/30/11 - Jade Mist Amber Hill Seabreeze (Chowder) got back into the action after shaping up from her litter. She took Winners Bitch at the Providence County Kennel Club for a point in a field of 6. She was handled by Ann. Piper was handled by Roy and took Reserve.

7/7/11 -  Jade Mist Amber Hill Sandpiper 'Piper' wins WB/BW/BOB in a tough field that included 3 specials at the Holyoke Kennel Club in Springfield MA.  The win was 2 points. She was handled by Roy.

4/17/11 - Jade Mist Amber Hill Sandpiper 'Piper' gets her 1st point at the South County Kennel Club Show. 'Star' took Reserve. Piper was handled by Roy and Star by Ann.

4/10/11 - Our Homebred girl, Amber Hill Sea Star 'Star' Took Best of Winners at the Great Barrington Kennel Club. This is her 1st point. She was handled by Ann.

1/13/11 - Jade Mist Amber Hill Seabreeze (Chowder) had her second litter. Litter is sired by Amber Hill Riptide. We are growing out a pretty girl from the litter we call 'Pearl'

9/17/10 - Our old girl Amber passed on today and we dearly miss her. She has been the family pet and big part of our lives for the last 15 years. Our kids grew up with Amber and have developed a love of dogs through her. Amber lived a full rich life and will always have a place in our hearts and memory.

2010

4/20/10 - We have found good homes for three of the puppies and wish them and their new owners the best. We have held two of the puppies to grow out as potential show dogs.

4/10/10 - We attended the Tri-State Specialty Show on Friday April 9th. We had a good time showing the dogs and visiting with everyone.

2/21/10 - In Amber Hill Riptides 1st show of 2010, he took WD and BOW under Breeder Judge Janet Turnage Nahikian in Hartford Connecticut. With this win Forrest earned his ninth point. Forrest was groomed and handled by Roy with assistance from our son John. Ann stayed at home to keep a watch over the puppies.

2/5/10 - Jade Mist Amber Hill Seabreeze (Chowder) gave birth to her first litter, 3 girls and 2 boys, all pure for sable. Litter is sired by Ch.Domaine's Diplomat.  Click SEE LITTER to see some pictures of Chowder and her litter.
