Amber Hill Shelties in Rhode Island

We got our first Sheltie, Brandy in 1988 from Tom and Nioma Coen (Macdega) and fell in love with the breed. Their loyalty, love and devotion is like no other. Since then we have always had shelties in our home. Amber, who we got in 1995 became our children's companion and our heart dog, thus the name "Amber" Hill Shelties.

In 2002 we got our first show quality sheltie, Carmylie Kaydee Ocean Mist – ‘Holly’ and began learning about confirmation showing and breeding. We were becoming discouraged after several years of causal showing with no luck when we finally won our first AKC point. This rejuvenated us and the show bug just grew from there.

Our enthusiasm for the breed has driven us to continuously learn and improve both as breeders and handlers. Our dedication was rewarded when we finished our first AKC Champion, Ch. Amber Hill Riptide - "Forrest". This was a special accomplishment because he was both bred and handled by us. Since then we have finished his daughter and plan to continue breeding and showing future generations of Amber Hill Shelties.

The success we have enjoyed at Amber Hill Shelties comes from using quality foundation dogs in our breeding program and learning from our mentors. We have found showing to be fun for both the dogs and us. Amber Hill Shelties is a passion we share together.
